Last Breath

Malavika M Nair

I feel it, its approaching,

the inevitable has come.

Its breathing down my neck,

sending chills through my spine.

The signs are clear and dark,

the smell of rotting soul

lingering in the air.

I sense my body

turning lucid and light.

Hereby I am blown away

by the wind

like a milkweed into oblivion

without leaving a trace

of my aura.

Do tell me what you feel about the poem. Eagerly waiting for the responses.

  2. Very true to the title.
These are words which haunt the person who is on the death bed too. Excellent explanation comparing it to the flowers too.
    Indeed a nice person.

Malavika, I think I felt the aura. You are great.
And the flower and the needle like petals gave me the feeling. I think it’s the flower of the fruit tree we have in my father’s house.
And by the way the poem is beautiful.
But it’s the aura that is felt which is most beautiful
