DEATH

-Malavika M Nair

In the frozen pit of my heart

you hear the silence,

feel the darkness I have endured.

Once a gay and spirited soul,

now is a miserable hole.

Nothing grows here.

I have turned into a graveyard,

where only dead persists.

You can neither feel me

nor love me.

I am lifeless and blue.

Nothing can warm my heart,

which has been stabbed by stake.

Only the bruises remain.

I am dead.

But my epitaph read: I am alive.

The only deadline I acknowledge is when I’m dead. Reflections on death of any sort invoke and have the potential to become self-fulfilling.
